TALK RADIO
You will learn how to be an accomplished radio talk show guest who will turn every interview into an opportunity to sell books and help lots of people.
We’ll work together with your publicist to secure the best-matched radio placements. You don’t have a publicist? I’ll help you find the right publicist, based on your book's subject and your budget.
I will help you:
• Prepare Questions and Answers so that, even if a host hasn’t read your book (and they often don’t), he or she will be able to provide you with a stimulating, book-selling interview.
• Know how to answer interviewers’ questions in a way that will encourage listeners to buy your book.
See every radio interview as an opportunity for an engaging, book-selling conversation.
I will teach you to be a first-rate guest:
• I’ll listen to several of your interviews, transcribe them, and advise you on strategies for improving future interviews.
• I’ll conduct mock interviews with you until together we turn you into an articulate, sought-after guest who sells books.
In short, I’ll teach you strategies for promoting your book without overtly selling it. In fact, I’ll help you to be the kind of guest who will inspire the host to do your selling for you!
- Read an interview with me: “Does Radio Sell Books?”
- Read an article I wrote for the September 2016 issue of the Independent Book Publishers Association's magazine, The Independent: "Taking to the WAVES: Using Radio to Get the Word Out."
Used effectively, this promotional method gives readers an opportunity to get to know you as an expert, view your message as important, and by extension, your book as a “must read.”
I will coach you to:
Find the best websites, postings and articles—the most relevant and the most appropriate—for your comments.
Use Google Alerts to find ideal postings for your comments.
Write your comments so that people will read them, see that you're an expert, and be inspired to buy your book. (There are several wrong ways—and a few right ways—to write your comments. I’ll help you to discern the difference between the two so that your comments will showcase you as an expert, and your book as a “must read.”)
Read my 3-part article, "Leaving comments on other people's websites and blogs - A great way to promote your book"—featured in “Multibriefs,” the ACAM newsletter. (ACAM, the American College for Advancement in Medicine, is one of the two main professional organizations for integrative health practitioners.): Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.
Most authors don’t know how to use Facebook in a way that will really sell books. No, I am NOT talking about purchasing Facebook ads. I AM talking about using the power of conversation on Facebook to let the world know about your book.
I will teach you:
What kinds of information to post
How to decide WHICH POSTS (of other people’s) to share
How to make the most out of your posts – and your comments
You’ll also learn the POWER of joining groups and participating in group discussions. But first, I’ll teach you how to discern which groups you should join. Next, I’ll teach you how to participate in group discussions—by posting and commenting—so that you’ll become known as a valued expert whose book is worth reading. If you do this right, group members will promote your book so that you won't have to do any selling.
